It starts with education
If children understand the role we play in maintaining high standards of air quality, they will grow up to be good stewards of our environment.
The Clean Air Force andAir Central Texas are proud to support Air Quality Education by providing air quality Particulate Matter Sensors to local schools throughout Central Texas. These sensors are installed right at the school, and teachers are given a teaching guide to help students learn about air quality and do activities and projects with the sensors. The sensor and teaching guide are free to schools. We are very grateful to Air Central Texas, a part of the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG), and to Austin FC | Atlas for their participation in this project.
The Be Air Smart program uses PurpleAir sensors which are in turn featured on an online map, showing where all sensors are located and providing a current real-time readout of air quality conditions at that school. The network of sensors provides invaluable information across our region for students, teachers, and researchers.
